Just in time for North Carolina craft beer month, Mother Earth Brewing and NoDa Brewing Company will release Word to Your Mother. The first collaboration beer for both breweries, the goal was to bring together two North Carolina based breweries to create a fantastic beverage.
Having long been a fan of his beer, Mother Earth Brewmaster, Josh Brewer, sought out Chad Henderson, Head Brewer at NoDa, and proposed collaboration. Henderson jumped at the offer. After months of emails, phone calls, and pilot batch brews, the two Brewmasters settled on Word to Your Mother, a Red Saison infused with apricots and cardamom. They both love a Saison, but wanted to put their own fresh spin on the style. Word to Your Mother will offer a dry finish and spicy fruit notes and weigh in at around 5.9% ABV.
As with many collaboration beers, Brewer and Henderson will brew at each other’s breweries, but they have decided to take it one step further. A full capacity batch will be brewed on each system using the Brewmaster’s own unique method to infuse the apricots. Then 4 barrels of each batch will be transferred to the other brewery in transportable fermenters and mixed with the batch brewed there to create a distinct final blend.
Word to Your Mother will launch April 1 and be offered as a draft only beer. It will be distributed in North Carolina in each of the breweries’ respective territories.
